welcome
AIDS Services Center Coalition, Inc., an umbrella organization of
HIV/AIDS service providers in Louisville and Southern Indiana, is
collaborating with community partners to organize a week of local programs
to commemorate the 24th annual World AIDS Day, December 1st, 2011. We invite
you to take part. Together we can educate, motivate, and mobilize against
HIV/AIDS.
Started in 1988, World AIDS Day is designed to focus attention on the
critical issues of HIV/AIDS. It is commemorated around the world on December
1st. Three decades after the virus was first diagnosed, World AIDS
Day 2011 is a call to action to support the over 34 million people people
living with HIV/AIDS across the globe and an opportunity to honor the nearly
30 million lives lost to this devastating pandemic. One day a year, we
are not separated by agencies, politics, governments or geography. We are
united together. This day we gather to raise public awareness, fight
discrimination and strengthen, our commitment. This day we advocate for
people who are living with HIV/AIDS. This day we honor our brothers and
sisters who have died from the disease.
“Out of Sight, Out of Mind” - the red ribbon is the international symbol of
AIDS awareness. Wear a red ribbon on December 1st as a reminder that the
AIDS crisis is not over.
